Q:My soul aches to live between the trees and live with the satisfaction that what I do is meaningful, that each hour I spend has value that I can see in the produce I eat and the dirt under my nails. You are both such an inspiration. What tips would you have for someone who is considering homesteading? How much money should one set aside to get started homesteading, and what skills do you think are important to know before a person commits to homesteading?

Your words are beautiful and an inspiration as well! I don’t really think that one needs to acquire any particular set of skills, however having a strong will and desire to push forward are a must!

Everyone is different and we are the sort of people who love spontaneity and adventure so we didn’t plan everything out. We have always been that way though, we want to do something and we don’t necessarily know how but we learn along the way.

As for the cost, we found someone who would owner finance our land with a small down payment. We sold everything we owned including our wedding rings to buy a truck, vintage travel trailer and gas to make it across country and here we are!
